We've got a plan!

The official date is November 7, 2013.

On that date we leave San Diego along with 30+ other powerboat cruisers for a two week rally to La Paz, Mexico.  Aboard will be Adam, Nancy and Randy along with our friend and crew Paul.  Our daughter will be back at college but will join us during her breaks.

The rally is called the Fleet Underway to Baja Rally, or FUBAR 2013.  This is the fourth version of this powerboat rally held ever other year.  You can read more about the FUBAR on their website at fubar2013.com.  It's an opportunity for a mix of experienced and inexperienced cruisers to enjoy a leisurely cruise to the Sea of Cortes with the benefit of the support such a diverse group affords.

If you are not yet aware, we'll be doing this on Antipodes, our 55' custom steel trawler.  We've been living aboard the boat for the past 6 months spending much of our time preparing the boat and ourselves for this adventure.

So, two weeks to La Paz, then what?  Good question, we have several options for this family adventure.  The primary plan is to take 2 1/2 years and travel through Mexico, Central America and the Panama Canal and then onto the East Coast and the Caribbean before return home to San Diego and putting Adam into high school.  Other plans include staying on the Pacific side of Central America, the Galapagos, extended time in the Sea of Cortes or where ever Antipodes takes us!

Next post will cover what we are doing to get ready.
