March-May 2014 - Mainland Mexico from Topolobampo to the southern border. We'll be visiting many beautiful cities, ports and anchorages over this 90 day period. We plan on spending a month in Puerto Vallarta as well as time in many smaller places. We are obligated to be south of 12 degrees latitude by the beginning of June 2014 for insurance purposes (hurricanes). I'm glad to oblige.
June - November 2014 - Central America including El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama. Summer in Central America will be challenging with the heat and rain storms. Many have done this so we're not too worried.
We hope to do a tour of the El Salvador volcano's, seven active mountains over a three day trip! We have visited, and loved Costa Rica before so we'll try to see even more of this beautiful country. Randy is thinking backpacking!
Panama is another interesting destination. We'll visit many islands on the Pacific Coast prior to transiting the Panama Canal. After the canal we'll stop in Bocos del Toro, an archipelago of islands in Panama and then we'll start heading north to make the trip to Florida for December of 2014.
December 2014 - November 2015 - East Coast of the USA. We'll be spending an entire year going up and down the east coast. Our plans are to visit as many friend and family during this time as well as giving Adam an historical adventure. Just think, all the battlegrounds from the civil war, exciting places like Washington DC, Philadelphia, Gettysburg, Virginia, Cape Canaveral, New York City, Boston, etc. We're excited about this leg of the trip!
December 2015 - June 2016 - We start heading home to San Diego but we get to pass through the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean before heading back through the Panama Canal and north to San Diego.
We'll go back to work, send Adam to high school and start planning the next adventure, a circumnavigation of our planet! Woo Hoo!
Alternate plans
Yes, we do have alternate plans, some consist of staying in Mexico, others staying on the west coast down to the Galapogos Islands or maybe even heading across the Pacific, who knows?
