My Copper Canyon Trip by Adam Sysol

Hello people who read this blog, it is Adam who will be writing for you this fine afternoon. This blog will be of my trip to Copper Canyon in Mexico. I was able to do many fun activities with my friends Ben, Ben, Easton, Sami, Nate and Kaylee. (Don't forget to click on the pictures for bigger versions - ed.)

The first days of the week long trip consisted of two crazy bus rides, a fort and some petroglyphs. When we were planning the trip we were supposed to go on a first-class bus with Wi-Fi, movies and more, but we got mixed up because the bus wasn't at the bus station we thought it was at and we weren't able to get there by the time the bus left so we went on a second–class bus for 6 hours, but it was still nice. Then after a while we had to go on a different bus that was bad for 2 more hours. Finally after that 8 hours we made it to the village El Fuerte, or "the fort".

We stayed at hotel built next to the fort and ate breakfast at the restaurant at the hotel.  They made us pancakes every morning! The hotel was great with square rooms that were perfect for bouncing bouncy balls that we had gotten at the bus station. I ended up bouncing mine off the cliff and so did one of the two Bens, but I got mine back.

There was a museum in the fort we went to. It said how the fort was built to protect the people from the Indians and showed the Spanish people’s weapons and way of living and also talked about the Indians.

The next day we went on a river tour to some petroglyphs. I couldn't focus on the petroglyphs at all because there were swarms of bugs and mosquitoes landing on me and biting me when I stopped walking or moving. We hiked up to the top of the hill where there weren't any bugs and you could see the huge river, the fort and the town.  On the path, we even saw some leaf cutter ants, our first time seeing these bugs.

After those few days we went on a train to Copper Canyon and our rustic hotel. The train ride was beautiful. We saw the whole canyon and rivers and gorges and so many different things! We went over bridges so it looked like we were on a floating train and went through pitch-black tunnels. The train ride was great and we finally got to Copper Canyon.

The hotel we went to was almost a bunch of adobe cabins stuck together. We had two beds in each room and the beds were spring mattresses with woolen blankets on top, but the meals were great. We had two chefs who made us dinner each night and breakfast too.

In my next blog I will tell you what we did at Copper canyon during the last days of our trip.

Hey Adam.
I thought you got lost. It's been WAY to long since your last post.
We love the train stuff. Your cousin Adam knew all about where you were from studying those trains. I would love a souvenir but NOT an ant! Ha ha
